Centre Daily Routine as per Working Hours
- 7:00am: Opening Time Centre opens and children begin to arrive; children engage in free play and exploration with teachers.
- 9:00 am: Mat time we start off with a welcoming song, where we say hello to each child so they gain a sense of belonging. We then ask them how they have been and what they have been doing at home. This encourages children to communicate, develop language skills and build confidence. We then do our calendar where we talk about the day, date, month, year, season and weather.
- 09:00am: Nappy changing and toileting (children in nappies have nappy checks regularly throughout the day, those toilet training are encouraged to go to the toilet every hour, 11:30 am/1:30pm/3:30pm/5:30 (depending on the session).
- 9:15 am: Transition to school programme We follow our weekly time table to provide a programme that helps our 4 year olds successfully transition from our centre to their prospective primary school environment. All curriculum areas are covered including mathematics, science, language, social science, arts, physical health and wellbeing.
- 9:40am: Handwashing, karakia and kai time sitting at the table Children eat their kai independently, and self-help skills are encouraged.
- 10:15 am: Tea Time After morning tea children put their chairs, plates and cups away and transition to the mat area to do some quiet activities and after they finished they will help tidy up the mat time area and head outside for free play and daily planned experiences relating to our topic.
- 10:30 am: Free play Planned activities relating to the month’s topic, children’s interests and spontaneous activities, to encourage and enhance the children’s learning. Different learning experiences are provided each day.
- 11:30 am: Tidy Up Children and teachers tidy up the centre.
- 11:40am: Circle time farewell We sing songs and farewell the morning session children.
- 11:50pm: Hand washing, karakia, lunch Our lunch menu changes daily and comes with fresh water.
- 2:15pm: Sleep time & quiet time activities The sleepers all have their own beds with their own bedding that is washed weekly. The children who don’t have sleeps will engage in different quiet time learning experiences inside.
- 1:00 pm: Afternoon session Transition to school programme and free play
- 1:30pm afternoon mat time
- 2:00pm: Karakia and afternoon kai
- 2:30pm: Free play Children enjoy a wide range of planned activities and topic-based learning experiences.
- 3:40 pm: Tidy up Children and teachers tidy up the centre.
- 4:00 pm: Circle time farewell children sing songs, talk about their day and we sing our farewell song.
- 4:30 pm: Snaks Time Late snack for remaining children, free play inside or outside.
- 6:00pm: Centre closes
